Our family loves to grill food on the barbecue during the summer months. It’s a great way to eat things that we don’t have in our rotation in the winter. It also keeps our kitchen cleaner and cooler because we’re not using the stove and oven as much. A favorite of ours is the good old traditional burger. However, I’m not one to eat the same thing over and over. Therefore, we switch things up. Here are 7 unique burger ideas that I want to share with you.
Unique burger ideas
Chicken burgers
Crack chicken burger by plain chicken
Because who doesn’t like bacon? This recipe combines ranch dressing mix, bacon, and cheddar cheese. It is absolutely delicious! I serve it on a lightly toasted bun with a bit of mayo, dijon mustard, and some crispy lettuce.
We often pair it with potato wedges and sliced cucumbers.
Lemon parmesan chicken burger by the delicious spoon
My husband was never a huge fan of chicken burgers because they can be bland and dry. This is not the case with this fantastic recipe. It has tons of flavor and feels quite light for a burger recipe.
Our favorite side to go with this burger is a caesar salad. We usually eat it on a bun, but it would be equally delicious served by itself with the salad.
Spinach & Avocado chicken burger by unbound wellness
Our last chicken burger recipe to make the unique burger ideas list is this healthy and tasty spinach and avocado burger. This is one of the only ways my son will eat avocados. We are not following any type of diet and serve it on a lightly toasted bun with the recommended avocado mayo.
We also often pair this one with potato wedges and sliced tomatoes.
Pork burgers
Giada’s Tuscan pork smash burger by Giadzy
My favorite thing about burgers is their versatility. This pork burger is phenomenal. The addition of the brie takes it to a whole other level. We always have fresh rosemary and chives growing in our flower boxes during the summer month and I love finding recipes where I can use my own fresh produce.
I also love adding fresh sprouts to this burger. The crunch of the sprouts and the smooth cheese make a perfect combo.
Growing sprouts at home is a super easy process. If you’d like to learn how, check out this blog post.
Beef burgers
Greek Beef Burger with Tzatziki Sauce by Creme de la crumb
Here is a not-so-traditional beef burger. This recipe brings a different vibe to the classic beef hamburger. I love the freshness brought by the tzatziki. The addition of all the different herbs creates the best flavor. I strongly suggest serving it on a ciabatta bun per the recommendation.
I have made this with a greek salad or a simple cucumber and tomato salad.
Seafood burgers
Epic salmon burger by Flavcity
I have made these burgers so many times. Using fresh salmon filets to make salmon burgers is an absolute game-changer. I love to serve these on lightly toasted buns with mayo and dijon, lettuce, and tomatoes.
I’ve also made these before and served with without buns but rather with a side of white rice and steamed broccoli. It was perfect.
Shrimp Burgers with Cilantro and Guacamole by cooking on the weekends
Last but not least is this epic shrimp burger. We typically eat this one on a bun but it would be equally good in a lettuce wrap. Add some sliced tomatoes and you have a delicious summer meal.
We normally serve it with tortilla chips and sliced cucumbers.
Pro tip: You can still cook the seafood burgers on the grill by using one of these grilling mats.
